During the prototyping of this clock, we had mixed responses when we did an Instagram poll to decide if we should have our logo on its face. The significance of this poll was that it made us realise the meaningfulness of placing a mark that identifies the crafter.
You know, when we first started the business, many dismissed us as ‘masak-masak’ (child’s play). We heard the usual chorus of high rental, expensive labour, lack of raw materials, small market etc. For them cynics, it is impossible to do manufacturing in Singapore because obstacles are meant to impede not to be overcome.
It took us much effort to figure out and execute a feasible business model. A craft business in Singapore can work if you can efficiently produce high-value goods in small batches for a discerning audience.
Every object we crafted, evolved from a long journey of overcoming Singapore’s production limitations. We are very proud of our commitment to craft, to engrave our logo is an emphatic declaration that this object was birthed in our production house.
The Commitment Carved Clock runs silently on a Seiko SKP mechanism. Battery and 3M goodies are included for installation.
